2020 Season Preview

Head Coach: Pat Brady (12th Season / Career Record: 177-74)

2019 Overall Record:  11-7  /  Shore Conference:  11-4  /  B-South:  7-0
#10 ShoreConferenceWrestling.com Top 11
Sectionals: CJG2 Quarterfinalists
2nd Place District 23
B-South Champions
7th Place Shore Conference Tournament

Down Low (106-132): James Latendorf will be a 4-year starter and gives the Panthers a solid veteran presence in the lower portion of the lineup. Lucas Torre and Charlie Latendorf both had some solid wins wrestling at 106 last year and finished on the plus side of .500. Both are capable of 20+ win years, and having strong postseason runs. Also back for the Pt Boro down low are a pair of juniors in Lucas Sabo and Chandler Jamarino that received extended action last season and will be looking to have breakout years. If they do, this can be a very strong group of lowers for the Panthers.

In The Middle (138-160): The two biggest guns for Boro reside in the middle in the Bailey brothers, Ty and Jack, who are both returning District Champs. Ty, a senior, is a 2-time State Qualifier and enters the season with 82 career wins, that gives Boro a solid 1-2 punch in the middle along with Jack. They're joined by another of the large amount of juniors that got varsity experience last year, including Peter Karras, Connor Robinson, and Chris Criscuolo. The group is also bolstered by the return of senior Jake Magley, who missed last season, but recorded 14 wins in 2018.

Up Top (170-Hwt): The upperweights will consist of almost entirely of that large group of underclassmen that got a ton of experience last season. Junior Josh Henderson is one to keep an eye on here. He had a few nice wins and a couple close calls against some good competition last season. He could be a nice surprise for the Panthers up top.

Boro wrestled a ton of youngsters in last year's lineup and still managed to have a solid year on their way their 3rd straight B-South Title, a title they look to successfully defend in 2020. They lost five starters from last year's squad, but with the valuable experienced gained for all the young guys, and the work put in, they will look to continue their championship run. They've got about three weeks of season to get ready for the big B-South showdown at Lacey, and of course there is that circled date on the calendar between the Panthers and their crosstown rivals, the much-improved Gulls from Pt. Beach in the annual Battle of Point Pleasant on January 24th. This is a very interesting team to keep a watch on as we look to see how big a step the junior class takes forward this year. Definite Top 10 11 team if it all comes together.
