2010-2011 Season Preview

Despite the presence of two State medal winners in the lineup, Pt. Boro suffered a rare losing season in 2010. And while those two medalists (Jordan Beverly and Sean Brand) have graduated, the Panthers appear to have a balanced, deeper, and more experienced lineup in 2011 that should get them back to the right side of .500 if some of the newcomers come along quickly.
Down Low (103-140): Senior Nick Onnembo (1st Place at the Mustang, 2nd in D23 in 2010) leads the charge in the lowerweights. A 31-match winner in 2010, Onnembo has the goods to make a run at some Region hardware and a trip to Atlantic City. He's surrounded by a nice mix of talent, experience, and youth that gives Boro a pretty solid group if they all wrestle to potential. The Harters, Matt and Ryan, are both underrated and could put together big seasons. There are some freshmen here with plenty of potential as well, with Ryan Budzek among them as one to keep an eye on.
Up Top (145-Hwt): Three District medal winners return, including senior champs Doug Rosell and David Halliday. They, along with D23 3rd place finisher Andrew Matter, a junior, give Boro a nice base to build around. There's a trio of frosh that could see time in the final three weights, and returning starters Brandon Cusack and Brandon Hoy are also back in another nice lineup mix.
Wrestler To Watch: (Sr) Doug Rosell
Injury kept Rosell out of the lineup late last year, but he returned in time for the Districts and still managed to capture the D23 crown and win a 4th place medal at the Regions. If he's healthy, he'll be in the hunt for Region gold and could make a lot of noise in Atlantic City.
