With a ton of talent from last year's team returning, a strong cast of newcomers, and solid numbers in the room, the potential is there for big things for Pt Boro in 2018.

The lineup is solid from top to bottom, but the stretch they have from 138-Hwt looms particularly large. They get it started with Ty Bailey, who had a terrific freshman campaign, recording 21 wins. The run from 145-160 features three Region qualifiers, two of which advanced to Atlantic City in junior Spencer Robinson, who punched his ticket to AC with a 4th place finish in the Region at 138, while Francis Marshall placed 4th in the Region at 152 while wrestling for Manasquan. Those two are joined by District medal winner, John McTaggart, and figure to move around the 145-160 weights depending on matchups. The rest of the stretch up top is solid as well. Anthony Bonavito is another returning State-qualifier, and should be among the top heavies in the Shore. District champ Billy Borowsky, and D21 3rd-placer finisher Dylan Ippolito project as the starters at 182 & 195. Rounding out the upperweights are seniors Ben Gilmore, Ryan Sansone, and Gabe Fattizzi, all returning starters.

In the lowerweights, the Panthers have 3x District medal winner Ben Sabo, to provide senior leadership in what will be an otherwise very young group. James Latendorf, a sophomore, is the other returning starter down low, coming off a double digit rookie season. The incoming freshmen that are expected to crack into the lineup are a very promising group, entering the program after solid intermediate careers.

The defending B-South Champs figure to once again, battle with Lacey for the divisional crown. That matchup will be on a Friday night (yes!) at Lacey on January 12th. The rest of the regular season schedule has several interesting matchups that include meetings with Long Branch, Jackson Memorial, Southern, and Ocean Township. For Sectionals, Pt Boro was moved out of CJG2 and are now in SJG2. While there are still tough teams there, it's a bit more balanced, and any time you don't most likely have to go through Raritan AND Delaware Valley for a shot at a title is usually a good thing. For the post-season, all of last-season's District medal winners are back. Add in Marshall, and another year of experience for Latendorf, Bailey, Sansone, and Fattizzi, and the Panthers looked prime to have a very busy late-February/early March. A definite team to watch in the Shore this season that can be a legit Top 5 program.
